BG police respond to thefts from 4 vehicles over weekend

Bowling Green Police Division responded to reports of four vehicles being broken into over the July 4th weekend.

On Saturday morning, police were dispatched to the 300 block of High Street, where residents reported someone had entered their unlocked vehicle. The residents said two Apple laptops were stolen from the car, a Greyco baby carseat, along with a 14 karat gold rope chain valued at $1,000 hanging from the rearview mirror.

Later on Saturday morning, police were called to the 400 block of South College Avenue, where a resident said someone was able to pry her driver’s side window a couple inches to unlock the vehicle. The only items missing were 20 $1 bills.

Then in the early hours of Sunday, police were called to the 100 block of South College Avenue, where a resident said her purse was stolen from her unlocked car. The purse is pink, and contained about $20 in cash, a Discover card and several gift cards worth a total of about $150.

And Sunday evening, police responded to the 100 block of South Main Street, where a man reported that two inhalers, vape and juice, turn signal assembly, $10 in quarters, and the auto title to his truck had been stolen from his vehicle.

He stated that he noticed a man slumped over in a smaller dark colored Honda parked near him. He knocked on the window and asked if the man was OK. The man appeared skittish and said he was fine. He was described as a white male, medium build, about 5-feet 10-inches, with long shaggy reddish/brown hair.

Police advised the truck owner to make the title office aware of the theft. Police checked the area for cameras, but found none. They also contacted several auto parts stores in town in case the parts were returned.
