BG Public Works equipment operator retires after 31 years with the city

Scott Beeker

Scott Beeker, a Bowling Green Public Works equipment operator, has retired after 31 years on the job. He began his employment with the city on Feb. 27, 1995, and retired on Dec. 31, 2025.

Beeker worked in the Public Works Department for his full career with the city.

Back in April of 2022, while on his trash collection route, Beeker assisted a citizen who appeared to be in distress. The resident, who had fallen on his porch, was bleeding and unable to answer questions. Beeker called 911 and remained on the scene until paramedics arrived.

The resident was found to have had a seizure. Beeker was recognized with a commendation from Mayor Mike Aspacher during a City Council meeting.

“Thanks to Mr. Beeker’s conscientious efforts and quick thinking, he greatly reduced possible serious medical complications,” Aspacher said. “The mayor’s commendation is to acknowledge and recognize his significant and selfless act for the betterment of this community.”
