A Bowling Green City School District bus driver was cited after she reportedly struck a motorized wheelchair in a crosswalk Thursday afternoon.
The bus driver was stopped at a red light on Parkview Drive at North Main Street, when a person using a wheelchair was northbound in the crosswalk, according to BGPD Lt. Adam Skaff. According to the police report, the driver did not see the wheelchair in the crosswalk, and proceeded to turn right onto North Main Street.
The bus struck the wheelchair, causing minor abrasions to the pedestrian’s arm. The wheelchair had minor damage, and the bus was not damaged, Skaff said. None of the passengers on the bus were injured.
The bus driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way for pedestrians in the crosswalk.
