Bowling Green City Schools and the City of Bowling Green will be working together to plant an Eastern Red Cedar tree at each of the school buildings on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The trees have been funded by various Girl Scout troops with the help of North Branch Nursery.
The hope is that these trees will bring the community together, and serve as a positive activity during the difficult days of COVID.
For years to come, the trees will stand as reminders that the school district and city made it through tough times.
Various activities will be planned around the trees. Some ideas are to decorate them with community contributions of items like winter scarves, or to use as kindness trees, where school and community members could participate. This could begin a new hope-filled tradition. The first theme will be messages of hope. Community members are encouraged to decorate the trees with symbols or messages of hope.
The planting schedule on Tuesday is as follows: 12 p.m. at Kenwood Elementary; 12:30 p.m. at Crim Elementary; 1 p.m. at Conneaut Elementary; 1:30 p.m. at Bowling Green Middle School; and 2 p.m. at Bowling Green High School.
