Bowling Green Save Our Neighborhoods Group (BG SONG), is a community development nonprofit organization dedicated to improving existing housing in the city, adding to the stock of financially accessible homes, preserving historic properties, and enhancing the city’s climate resiliency. The board of BG SONG intends to state through this letter its position regarding the zoning change request for 416 West Wooster Street, commonly known as “The Old Hospital.”
We expect that the members of the Planning Commission and City Council will evaluate this case based on the zoning code and make their decision in accordance with the law. Overall the zoning code update, adopted in June 2023, reflects a vision for thoughtful and equitable development across Bowling Green and is carefully designed to balance the needs of residents, protect historic properties, and preserve the integrity of our neighborhoods. This case is an important opportunity to uphold the integrity of the code.
BG SONG supports adhering to the zoning regulations passed by City Council in 2023 for the Pedestrian Residential (PR) District that disallow additional duplexes in the district.
