BGHS DECA students qualify for international competition in Atlanta

Julie Goff & Allison Hover won second place in the state DECA competition for Sports & Entertainment Team Decision-Making.

Bowling Green High School DECA, a satellite marketing program of Penta Career Center, had 38 students compete at the DECA state career development conference in Columbus in February. The state competition recognizes performers from all around the state who qualified from their district competition. Competing against some of the best marketing, finance, hospitality, and management students from across the state, local DECA members showcased their knowledge through role-plays, case studies, prepared events, and written business plans.

State top finalists included:

  • Carson Black – Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling
  • Julie Goff & Allison Hover – Sports & Entertainment Team Decision-Making
  • Katelyn Czerniak & Stella Dye – Buying & Merchandising Team Decision-Making
  • Abby Clark, Mack Maxey, & Ellie Brown – Integrated Marketing Service Campaign
  • Ethan Smith – Professional Selling
  • Brooklyn Esterline & Cadence Litchfield – Career Development Project Management

Students from BGHS demonstrated skill, professionalism, and dedication at the recent DECA State Career Development Conference, earning top honors and qualifying to advance to the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Their hard work and preparation paid off, earning them the opportunity to represent both their school and state on the international stage.

The ICDC will bring together thousands of top-performing students from around the world to compete, network with industry professionals, and further develop their leadership and career skills. This achievement reflects not only the students’ commitment to excellence but also the strength of the school’s DECA chapter and business program.

As a result of their outstanding performance, the following students have qualified to represent the BGHS DECA chapter at ICDC in Atlanta:
