Bowling Green High School senior Marketing Education/DECA members began this school year with the goal of attending DECA’s Ultimate Power Trip Conference in North Carolina! In order to achieve this goal, chapter members chose to embark on the “Be The 1” Project Management Sales Project to authentically learn about project management phases and expand their leadership and networking skills. Through all phases the students developed and demonstrated 21st century skills desired by today’s employers. The Marketing Education Program is a Satellite Program of Penta Career Center.
Senior DECA project managers Emma Thompson and Hanna Heinze led the chapter by organizing sales teams and initiating the “Be The 1: Stand Out” campaign. While learning about financial literacy, an overall goal of collecting $7,000 in sponsorships was established. This was based on both the expenses of attending the trip and the desire to expand upon last year’s sales project, where members attended the conference in Austin, Texas.
The Bowling Green senior DECA chapter is more than grateful to have received positive interactions with businesses as they headed out in October for their sales demonstrations. Moreover, all the generous sponsorships provided invaluable learning opportunities for BGHS DECA members from the initiation phase of the project to the closure phase. The trip played a crucial role in building the students’ education in and outside the classroom. The chapter wants to thank all 85 donors for “Being the 1” to help our Penta-BG DECA members in their mission to develop personally and professionally.
