From BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
The Bowling Green State University Sidney A. Ribeau President’s Leadership Academy (PLA) has named Joile’t McClendon of Saint Ursula Academy in Toledo as one of its newest scholars.
The BGSU PLA is a nationally recognized best practice in student leadership development designed to provide scholars with comprehensive educational experiences and opportunities grounded in the ideals of servant leadership.
Students who are accepted into the BGSU PLA receive a four-year full tuition scholarship and are empowered with leadership and civic engagement opportunities through application of curricular and co-curricular experiences. They participate in intensive leadership curriculum, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities designed to enhance their leadership skills, critical thinking, and commitment to being a leader in their community.
McClendon distinguished themself as one of only 40 students out of 550 total applicants to be selected for the 2026 cohort, demonstrating the determination, curiosity, and dedication to personal growth that the BGSU PLA highly values in its scholars.
Their selection is a testament to their academic and leadership potential and character, as they join a community of BGSU scholars and alumni who have excelled through the same path with the mantra of the PLA guiding them – eyes on tomorrow and feet on today.
