From BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Bowling Green State University will display its recently restored and rare, two-volume 17th-century edition of “Opere di Galileo Galilei” – or “Works of Galileo Galilei” – at 6 tonight, Feb. 12, at the BGSU Planetarium.
As part of the free “Evening with Galileo” event, BGSU University Libraries will provide a brief presentation about the works of the pioneering Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer, and philosopher, while also offering insight into the restoration process of the works themselves. The program will conclude with the planetarium show “Two Small Pieces of Glass,” which explores astronomical telescopes across time, beginning with Galileo.
Housed in the BGSU Center for Archival Collections, the university’s preserved works of Galileo are the only of their kind in Ohio, and one of only 11 in the world, that showcase the enduring impact of one of history’s most influential scientists.
