BGSU’s 25th Ohanami Cherry Blossom Festival to feature art, performances, games

The BGSU Japanese Club and the Asian Studies Program at BGSU will host the 25th Ohanami Cherry Blossom Festival on Sunday, March 29, from noon – 4 p.m. The program will commence at 12:15 p.m. The festival is free and open to the public and will take place in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom, Bowen-Thompson Student Union, BGSU campus.

All of the activities will be indoors and will include:

  • Caricatures
  • Japanese calligraphy
  • Origami
  • Traditional Japanese games
  • Water games: goldfish games and super balls
  • Kimono try-ons
  • Ikebana – flower-arranging
  • Tea ceremony with tea tasting
  • Wagashi – Japanese sweets-making
  • Taiko performance
  • Martial arts demonstrations
  • Tap dance
  • Bon-odori
  • Japanese chorus
  • Modern dance
  • Nihon-buyo – traditional Japanese dance
  • Sushi tasting and authentic Japanese refreshments

The event is sponsored by the BGSU Asian Studies Program, BGSU College of Arts and Sciences, Bowling Green State University, and the City of Bowling Green Human Relations Commission.
