Black Swamp Preserve boardwalk upgrades in BG will require trails to be closed periodically

Sunrise from the Slippery Elm Trail

Starting in March, crews will begin working on the Black Swamp Preserve Boardwalk in Bowling Green. During construction, the trails will be closed to both pedestrians and bicycles.

There will be periodic closures over several weeks at the following locations:

  • Black Swamp Preserve
  • The Slippery Elm Trail between Sand Ridge Road and Gypsy Lane Road
  • Both the Kenwood Avenue and Maple Street access points that lead through the preserve to the main trail

The existing boardwalk connecting Kenwood Avenue to the first section of the bike trail will be replaced with a permanent path upgrade.

The public is encouraged to follow the city’s social media channels for timely updates.
