Care Compass project to offer fall prevention tips, ways to manage vision loss for care recipients

The Care Compass project serves as a quarterly network gathering for caregivers and those who may be caregivers in the future. Care Compass is a place to gather information and obtain resources to make the journey of caregiving less stressful. The upcoming session, focusing on fall prevention tips and ways to manage vision loss for care recipients, will be held in-person and virtually using Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St., Bowling Green

The Care Compass project is free and open to all caregivers and community members but requires pre-registration by calling 1-800-367-4935 or 419-353-5661 or by emailing programs@wccoa.net.

Zoom login information will be given upon registration if requested.

A lunch sponsored by Brookdale of Bowling Green will be given to the first 25 Wood County residents registered for the session and who will be attending in-person.

Agenda

  • 11 a.m. – Session will cover fall prevention tips for caregivers in a home setting. Participants will be able to assess their surroundings and learn preventative techniques to avoid costly falls in the home.

  • 12 p.m. – Vision loss can impact caregiving and how individuals cope with their surroundings. This session will discuss vision impairments and ways to assist care recipients on how to navigate their surroundings.
