The Care Compass Project serves as a quarterly network gathering for caregivers and those who may be caregivers in the future. Care Compass is a place to gather information and obtain resources to make the journey of caregiving less stressful.
The upcoming session will be held in-person and virtually using Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m., at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 South Grove St., Bowling Green.
The Care Compass Project is free and open to all caregivers and community members but requires pre-registration by calling 1-800-367-4935 or 419-353-5661 or emailing programs@wccoa.net.
Zoom login information will be given upon registration if requested.
Lunch sponsored by Brookdale of Bowling Green will be given to the first 25 Wood County residents registered for the session that will be attending in-person.
Agenda:
- 11 a.m.: Got Swelling? Compression – It’s not what your grandparents wore
- This session will discuss the basics of swelling, its causes, and solutions. Mary Pollock is a doctor, occupational therapist, and certified lymphedema therapist. She has been treating swelling since 2012 and currently works with JOBST medical compression as a clinical educator.
- 11:45-noon: Lunch by Brookdale of Bowling Green
- Noon: Legacy and light – End-of-life doula
- This interactive presentation will explore the compassionate, non-medical support an INELDA-trained end-of-life doula provides to individuals and families. Just as a birth doula offers support to life entering the world, an end-of-life doula offers emotional comfort, assistance with planning, and ensuring personal wishes are honored with dignity. Presented by Kristy Akdemir.
