Carolyn I. Borcherding Obituary
Carolyn I. Borcherding, 94, of Pemberville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Otterbein SeniorLiving in Pemberville. She was born Carolyn Rahe on September 3, 1932 to Fred J. and Laura M. (Buehning) Rahe in Pemberville, and she later graduated from Pemberville High School. Carolyn married James F. Borcherding on July 23, 1955 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville. Carolyn and James celebrated over 52 years of marriage together before James’ passing in 2007.
Carolyn was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where her ministries included among others: teaching Sunday School for 50 years, she was a member of the Pemberville American Legion Auxiliary Post #183 serving as the Past President, she volunteered 25 plus years at the legion blood drives, member of the Pemberville Historical Society, and the Mid-Morning Belles. She remained active in the Pemberville community volunteering for various groups.
Carolyn is survived by her nephew, Rick (Kim) Rahe of Pemberville, niece, Susie Rahe of Pemberville, nephews: Dennis Rahe of Holland, OH, and Michael (Janet) Rahe of GA, niece, MariAn (Robert) Wagner of Pemberville, nephews: Robert (Sue) Schroeder of MI, Ronald (Carol) Schroeder of MI, Douglas (Sandy) Schroeder of MI, and Gary (Dapher) Bockbrader of Bowling Green, and niece, Kay Augestine of Bowling Green. In addition to her husband James, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Harold and Dick Rahe, sister, Hazel Schroeder, nephews: Mark Schroeder, Larry Bockbrader, and niece, Robin Rahe.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville. There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m., until the time of service. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Philabaum. Interment will be in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville, OH.
