Christiania K Nietz

Christiania K (Chris) Nietz, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 80 in her home in Naples, Florida. Christiania (Chris) was born in Toledo, Ohio to Charles J. and Ellen E. Sautter.

Christiania met and married her husband Ron in 1967. They were married for 57 years until his passing in June 2025.

Christiania went on to become a CPA and enjoyed working with small family businesses to reach their goals of financial success. Many people remember seeing her office light on in the early mornings and late evenings preparing taxes. She and her husband Ron worked side by side in their business ventures. After tax season they would pack up their camper and head off to travel the United States and Canada. Chris enjoyed collecting pottery from across the county. She was especially happy when her children and eventually her grandchildren were able to travel with them to see the beauty of the United States. Chris’s hobbies included garden club and crafting while the use of glitter added to her sparkle.

Chris was preceded in death by her husband Ron, both parents, and a brother Charles Sautter.

Chris is survived by her children Jill (Dale) Calcamuggio and John (Betsy) Nietz and by her four grandsons Joshua Nietz, Noah (Devyn) Nietz, Alex Messenger and Andy Messenger. She is also survived by her siblings John (Linda-deceased) Sautter, Sue (Joe-deceased) Conklin, Patricia (Ken) Giese, sister-in-law Audre (Chuck-deceased) Sautter and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 1, 2026, from

1:30-2:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Building at the city park in Bowling Green, Ohio with a luncheon to follow.
