City of Bowling Green transitions website and emails to ‘.gov’

From CITY OF BOWLING GREEN

Residents, business, and visitors may notice a change to the City of Bowling Green website and other digital communications. As of Monday, Sept. 29, the city has officially been recognized as a certified government entity online.

Previously listed as “bgohio.org,” the new domain for the website is listed as “bgohio.gov.” Additionally, all city employee email address have been updated to “jdoe@bgohio.gov.” City of Bowling Green webpages and email address still function in the former “.org” format and are redirected to the new “.gov” destination.

This update is primarily internal. The transition will not affect resident or business utility accounts, which will continue to operate as usual. While a redirect is in place for the former web domain, users should update emails and web address to “.gov” for commonly used city contacts and internet searches.

Transitioning to a “.gov” domain helps to enhance the city’s credibility, allowing the community to verify that the information they receive is official correspondence. This added layer of security also helps protect important data, aiming to ensure that residents and businesses can trust the communications and services provided by the City of Bowling Green.
