The Bowling Green Area Community Bands will open their 16th season with a medley of songs that celebrate the musicians in the band.
“Featuring … the Band” will be presented Sunday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. at The Bowling Green Performing Arts Center, 503 West Poe Road, Bowling Green.
Under the direction of Catherine Lewis, the band will be playing selections that highlight the talents within its ranks.
The program includes:
- “Strike Up the Band” by George and Ira Gershwin
- “Celebration in Brass” by Brian Olson
- “South of the Border” featuring the band’s percussionists, “Divertimento for Tuba and Band” by David Bobrowitz
- “Different Voices” by Rick Kirby.
Soloists include: Katie Ferren, tuba; Erin Crawford, piccolo; Brian Bushong, trumpet; Karen Smith, piano; and Teres Disbrow, clarinet.
BiG Band BG , conducted by Rob Cintron, will also perform.
The concert is free. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
