From RUTHERFORD B. HAYES PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUMS
The community is invited to remember the bravery of Paul Revere warning the colonists that the British were coming with a lantern walk through Spiegel Grove on the 251st anniversary of his legendary ride on Saturday, April 18.
People can walk through Spiegel Grove, the grounds of the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums and an accredited arboretum, as they hear the poem “Paul Revere’s Ride,” written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Tours depart at 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
The poem will be read in sections at three different stops at the grove, culminating with two lanterns being lighted at 8:45 p.m. in the cupola of the historic Hayes home, which participants will see while gathered on the lawn outside the home.
Tickets are required and cost $5 per person. Tickets are available online at www.rbhayes.org/news/2026/03/13/general/celebrate-the-anniversary-of-paul-revere-s-ride-with-lantern-walk-at-spiegel-grove/. Tickets will also be available at the museum front desk the night of the event, pending availability.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the museum.
The event is part of Hayes Presidential’s year-long America 250 celebration. For more information, call 419-332-2081 or visit rbhayes.org.
