The Wood County Dog Shelter is reminding Wood County residents that 2025 dog licenses must be purchased by the end of January.
Under Ohio law, each person who owns, keeps or harbors a dog more than three months of age, must register their dog with the county auditor and purchase a license for the dog. The deadline to purchase a 2025 Wood County dog license is Jan. 31, 2025.
Individuals who purchase dog licenses after the deadline will be subject to a late penalty. For Wood County residents, a one-year dog license costs $14, a three-year license is $42, and a permanent license is $140.
Purchases made at the Wood County Dog Shelter, can be made by cash, card, or check. Licenses can also be purchased at the Wood County Auditor’s Office located on the second floor of the County Office Building at One Courthouse Square, Bowling Green, or on-line at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Wood/. A convenience fee of $2 will be charged for credit card purchases.
The Wood County Dog Shelter will once again be conducting door-to-door license checks starting in February. Deputy dog wardens will be starting the door-to-door checks in the northern part of the county and will work their way south.
