Deputies Loar & Holland recognized for work overseeing sex offender registry

From WOOD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Two deputies with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) received national recognition this week for excellence in overseeing the county’s 139 registered sex offenders.

Deputy Isaiah Loar and Deputy Jill Holland were recognized during an awards ceremony at the National Sheriffs Association annual conference in Louisville, K.Y. on June 16.

Deputies Loar and Holland; and the WCSO use the software management tool OffenderWatch to keep track of registered sex offenders, often using the system to aid in investigations and proactively improve public safety. Of the more than 3,000 agencies and 14,000 users in the OffenderWatch network, the company selected Deputy Loar and Deputy Holland to receive the award.

Loar and Holland were nominated for the award due to their work streamlining the process of sex offender registration in the office and registry management improvements and physically ensuring offenders are at their listed address.

“These employees, Sheriff Wasylyshyn and the entire sheriff’s office, go above and beyond what is required in statute to collect comprehensive data on each and every offender in their jurisdiction,” said Mike Cormaci, president of OffenderWatch. “Because of people like them, our communities are safer from sexual predators.”

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for managing, tracking and verifying registered sex offenders in the county. The office is also responsible for notifying the public of registered sex offenders.

The public can sign up to receive free notifications when a registered sex offender moves into their neighborhood or near any address using the link below.
