The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles that occurred today (July 3) at approximately 1:58 p.m., on Ohio 579 milepost 1 in Lake Township, Wood County.
The preliminary investigation showed a Jeep Wrangler, operated by Aaron Stoldt, 46, Toledo, was eastbound on Route 579. A 2014 GMC Acadia, operated by Nickelle Lee, 28, Toledo, was also eastbound on Route 579.
Stoldt reportedly failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and struck Lee’s vehicle in the rear. Stoldt’s vehicle then traveled off the north side of the roadway and overturned.
Stoldt succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Northwood Police Department, Northwood Fire Department, Lake Township EMS, Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Rau’s Towing.
