The Bowling Green Fire Division responded to a report of heavy flames and explosions Tuesday shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the ODOT garage on Mitchell Road.
Captain Terry Busch said the fire involved three trucks that were parked near a building. The blaze was contained to the trucks.
The Fire Division responded with two engines, ladder truck, and an ambulance and received aid from a Mid County 120 ambulance.
It took firefighters about 15 minutes to knock down the fire that involved two large snow plows and a semi-truck with a trailer attached. The vehicles were parked side by side. Firefighters remained at the scene until at least midnight
Busch, who was the officer in charge at the scene, said he did not know what caused the blaze.
The EPA also responded to the scene, Busch said, because of concerns that oil and other petroleum products would leak into the drainage system.
ODOT reported Thursday that EPA was able to clean up the site on Wednesday.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
