Firefly Nights returning to downtown BG this summer

Firefly Nights will return to downtown Bowling Green this summer on the third Fridays in June, July, and August in the north and south blocks on Main Street.

On the website, the organizers state: “Firefly Nights is happy to announce its return for 2022! We can’t wait to see everyone again!”

Firefly Nights features live music, vendors, activities for children, specials in downtown shops, and food trucks.

The street festival premiered in 2018. It was the brainchild of female downtown business owners. “We want to foster a diverse, neighborly and lively atmosphere in downtown BG. That’s the intent and sole focus,” said Kati Thompson, owner of Eden Boutique Fashion Boutique and now executive director of Bowling Green Economic Development.

The festivals were canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.

The previous summer, the organizers persisted despite Main Street being torn up for construction.
