George D Kahle

George D. Kahle, 74, of Cygnet, died at 6:41 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He was born on March 22, 1952, in Toledo to the late Paul Milton Kahle, Sr. and Ellen Maye (Hill) Kahle. On August 27, 1976, he married the love of his life Nora Grindstaff, and she survives.

George is also survived by his son, Kenny (Kathy Arden) Orner of Versalles; daughters: Dena (Thomas III) O’Leary of Cygnet and Rosalyn (Chad) Bettinger of Rutledge, TN; grandchildren: Andrew (Jaclyn), Tommy IV (Shonda), Kenny III, Clara, Harley and Saylor; great-grandchildren: LanaMae, Isabella, Rachel, Millie Sue, Braelyn, Joanna, Amelia and Tommy V; siblings: Michael Kahle, Catherine Kahle, Charles Kahle, Charlotte Bartok, Peter Kahle and Philip Kahle.

He was also preceded in death by siblings: Patrick Kahle, Mark Kahle and Paul Kahle, Jr.

George was one of ten children. He retired from Central Transport, where he worked for many years as a truck driver, and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 20.

An avid sports fan, of racing, football, basketball, baseball, hockey and rugby, George especially enjoyed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions, and the late Nascar driver Terry Labonte. He also had a love for fishing, gardening and took great pride in growing and caring for all kinds of flowers.

George enjoyed being involved in the lives of his children and his community. He formerly coached his children’s soccer teams and served as a youth group leader at Swanton Church of the Nazarene.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
