Greta, a 9- or 10-year German Shepherd, is looking for a retirement home. She came into the Wood County Dog Shelter as a stray, and according to the shelter staff, clearly did not have the best life.
It looks as if Greta lived much of her life outside. Her ears have injuries from fly bites, and she has some lumps and bumps from old age.
But Dog Warden Jodi Harding said Greta “is a complete sweetheart who has yet to meet a stranger.” She can, however, be a little picky about her dog friends, so anyone interested in adopting her should bring any dogs they already have to meet Greta.
She walks great on a leash. “She would love nothing more than to take a stroll around the neighborhood and then cuddle up in front of the TV for the rest of the day. She is an older gal looking for her retirement home,” Harding said.
The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.
The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed. The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
