Groundbreaking set for May 1 for new BG High School building

Main entrance to new high school

The groundbreaking for the new Bowling Green High School has been set for May 1 at 4 p.m., according to Superintendent Ted Haselman, who announced the event Tuesday during the monthly meeting of the board of education.

The groundbreaking will be held in the parking lot next to the current high school at 530 W. Poe Road.

The new $72.8 million high school is expected to be open in the fall of 2027. The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission has committed to paying 17% of the new high school construction expenses that the state is willing to fund. That state share is expected to be very close to $10 million.

Further details from the board meeting will be posted later this week in BG Independent News.
