June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month and The Wood County Humane Society (WCHS) will celebrate by kicking off a new adoption initiative that will run indefinitely. Called Two Fur Tuesday, this adoption initiative will allow adopters to take home two adult cats for the cost of a single adoption fee. Valid every Tuesday, this special only applies to same-day adoptions and each adopted cat must leave the shelter in its own carrier.
Regular adoption fees for cats range from $50 for adult cats to $100 for kittens. This June only the WCHS is offering a special $20 adoption fee for any cat, which means that those who participate in the new adoption initiative, on Tuesdays, can take home two adult cats for only $20.
The Two Fur Tuesday adoption special applies to adult cats aged 7 months and older. All adoptable cats have been spayed/neutered, and have received age-appropriate vaccinations, an FIVFeLV test, and a microchip.
Normal adoption hours at the WCHS are Tuesday and Wednesday from noon until 7 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. All adoptions must be completed at least 30 minutes prior to close.
The WCHS, located in Bowling Green, is a private, non-profit, managed admission shelter providing care for homeless and abused pets and investigating cruelty complaints in Wood County. The organization receives no funding from the United Way, or national humane organizations, instead relying on earned revenue and the generosity of individual donors and businesses to fund our programs such as Safe Haven and food assistance programs, spay/neuter transport, and educational presentations. The WCHS provides care for hundreds of animals each year—from dogs and cats, to horses, goats, and pocket pets. All animals admitted into our adoption program are housed and cared for as long as it takes to find their fur-ever home.
