Jeff Dennis selected to run for BG City Council Fourth Ward

The Wood County Democratic Central Committee voted on Monday to appoint Jeff Dennis to fill the vacant spot on the ballot for the Fourth Ward seat on Bowling Green City Council.

“I think by now we all recognize the importance of neighborhood revitalization to the long term health of our community,” Dennis said. “The best way to grow and diversify our economy is by improving our ability to attract and retain young people, and we do that by making Bowling Green a more attractive place for everyone to live, work, and raise a family. Unfortunately, action on some of these issues has been slow and most current members of council will tell you that we’re suffering from a case of “analysis paralysis.”

Dennis continued, “We need a fresh approach – one that involves getting serious about neighborhood revitalization, reducing waste, reforming and enforcing our zoning code, and improving our ability to attract and retain young people. That starts by focusing on how we can, not why we can’t.”

“I look forward to working with members of council and the community to begin the action phase of the Community Action Plan so that we can finally tackle these long-standing issues, which were also identified in the East Wooster Development Plan, Community Improvement Plan, and numerous updates to the Master Plan going back to 1987,” Dennis stated.

Dennis is a Bowling Green native and a graduate of both Bowling Green City Schools and Bowling Green State University. He studies law at the University of Toledo and recently left a position as elections administrator at the Wood County Board of Elections. He and his wife Jessica own a home on North Grove Street where they have lived for several years.
