John A Beaverson

John A. Beaverson, 79, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 8, 2026.

He was born on January 3, 1947, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to the late Meryl and Bernadine (Wagner) Beaverson. On February 28, 1970, he married the love of his life, Diane Kummerer, who survives him in Bowling Green.

John was a proud 1965 graduate of Bowling Green High School. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he dedicated his life to serving his community. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Wood County and was one of the first six deputies of Perrysburg Township, helping design the department’s original uniforms. Throughout his career, he also served Wood County in Civil and Transportation services and later worked as a bailiff. He was a member of the FOP.

Known affectionately by many as “Big John,” he was a familiar face throughout the community. His warm personality, kind heart, and ability to connect with people meant he seemed to know everyone he met. Whether through his public service or simple everyday conversations, John left a lasting impression on countless lives.

When he was not caring for his community, John enjoyed watching westerns and war movies, cooking for his family, wood working, gardening, and shooting his guns at his woods he owned in Portage. In his younger years he enjoyed spending time on his boats and riding his motorcycles and scuba diving. He loved animals and especially cherished his beloved cat, Ellie, and dog, Sadie.

Above all else, John loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose strength, guidance, and unwavering love made him a hero to those who knew him best. He treasured every moment spent with his family and created memories that will be cherished for generations.

John’s legacy of service, friendship, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
