From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY
In support of early literacy, the Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green has made a $5,000 donation in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Wood County to the Wood County District Public Library’s Foundation.
This donation will go toward putting books into the hands of small readers all across Wood County, and help to support Dolly Parton’s mission to mail free, high-quality books that are key to forming young readers.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an early literacy initiative that mails children birth through age 5 a free, age-appropriate book every month. In partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Ohio, the seven independent public library systems in Wood County, collectively known as Woodlink, are proud to support this program in Wood County.
Program costs are covered by a 50% match from the Dolly Parton’s imagination Library of Ohio program and 50% in locally provided funds. Each of the county’s seven library systems, including WCDPL, contribute to this project based on the population of their legal service district, which makes this donation incredibly important to supporting early literacy county-wide.
