From LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
The League of Women Voters of Bowling Green will host a community postcard-writing event to encourage recently registered voters to participate in the November midterm election. The event commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which strengthened protections against racial discrimination in voting and expanded access to the ballot. The event is part of a nationwide Day of Action involving more than 350 local Leagues of Women Voters and will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 1 – 4 p.m. at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
Volunteers will write personal, nonpartisan messages reminding newly registered voters that their voices matter and directing them to Vote411.org for election information.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. Through efforts like this postcard campaign, the league works to empower voters and strengthen democracy.
