BOWLING GREEN LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
The Ohio League of Women Voters has elected Bowling Green resident Lee McLaird as secretary of the Board of Directors.
McLaird joined the Bowling Green League in 2004 and has served as secretary and two terms as president. Lee has been very active in registering new voters at various venues in Wood County and preparing for the 2020 Census.
She holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from the University of South Dakota and a Master of Librarianship from Emporia Kansas State University. For 25 years she was the reference archivist and rare books curator at Bowling Green State University where she assisted researchers using local government records and the official records of some state legislators and U.S. congressional representatives.
The League of Women Voters US was founded 100 years ago, just before the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Now, as then, the mission of the US, Ohio, and Bowling Green Leagues is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government and selected governmental issues.
The League is non-partisan and supports issue only after through study.
