LivelyU Lifelong Learning Academy launches its spring semester courses

The LivelyU Lifelong Learning Academy is a platform of programming offered through the Wood County Committee on Aging in partnership with the Bowling Green State University Optimal Aging Institute. The academy is designed to enhance programming with opportunities for lifelong learning. Academy courses focus on education, engagement, and life enrichment and are facilitated by volunteer instructors with a passion for their chosen subjects. Courses are intended to be enjoyable, stimulating, learning for the joy of learning, and offer opportunities for social engagement for all registrants.

The spring semester will run from March through to May and will include the following courses:

  • How Poems Work, Geoff Howes
  • Art Tells Stories, Sharon Hanna
  • Finding Your Balance, Jamie O’Brien and Dr. Tawiona Brown
  • Foundations, Freedoms and the Future, Judge Matthew Reger
  • Calculus + You, George Carver
  • Riker Farming Behind the Scenes, Logan and Nolan Riker
  • Taste of Kenyan Cooking Class, Tom Otieno
  • Judicial Ethics (Offsite), Judge Joel Kuhlman
  • Baseball: More Than Just a Game, David Horger
  • Opera Behind the Scenes, Chris and Ellen Scholl
  • Data, Decisions & the Pirates, Kara Godsey
  • Behind the Scenes of the TV series “The Chosen,” Duane and Toni Cary
  • Fashion Through the Decades, Elizabeth Johnson
  • The Bible – What? And Why?, Pastor Derrick Torrey
  • Clean Water Matters, Marj Mulcachy
  • Gallery Group, Michael Coomes and Sally Dreier, Toledo Museum of Art docents
  • Wild Weather, Ryan Wiechman

To take part in LivelyU courses, a semester tuition fee of $20 is required. This tuition payment will provide access to any courses offered during the semester. Registrants need to register for all of the courses they are interested in attending by using the QR code. The QR code is available in the brochure, on the WCCOA website, or at any Wood County senior center. Payment can be organized through the WCCOA Programs Department by calling 419-353-5661 or 1-800-367-4935 or by emailing programs@wccoa.net.
