Mabel Gay Layman, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Wood Haven in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Mabel was born on December 16, 1927, to Gordon & Zella Judy in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. On June 21, 1966, Mabel wed her loving husband, Kenneth F. Layman, he preceded her in death on March 5, 1979.
Together Mabel & Kenny built a life they loved to include a growing family with a son, Frederick K. Layman and a daughter Donna Judy, grandchildren Angela (Dennis) Arnold, Jennifer (Shane) Cowle, and 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 1 on the way. She is also survived by her sister Norma Aliff of Meadow Bridge, WV. Mabel was preceded in death by her 3 brothers Charles Judy, Ralph Judy & Lawrence Judy.
Mabel graduated from Meadow Bridge High School in West Virginia in 1945. She enjoyed being a homemaker taking care of her family. Mabel also worked as a telephone operator, and at C & O Railroad.
