Man arrested for stealing from Sundae Station tip jar

A Tiffin man has been arrested for stealing from the tip jar at Sundae Station.

Brian Allan Steward, 39, was charged with theft for taking money from the tip jar Sunday evening at 1240 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green.

Shaun Crusa, owner of Sundae Station, called police to say an employee saw two men take money from the tip jar. The men reportedly walked in and claimed that they were in the restaurant the day before and had received banana splits without bananas.

Crusa reported that he watched the surveillance video, showing two men trying unsuccessfully to steal money out of the business’ donation bins before going over to the counter and stealing cash out of a tip jar.

They appeared to notice the surveillance camera, so one tried to block the camera while the other man grabbed cash out of the tip jar. Then the other grabbed more cash, Crusa said.

The two men reportedly left Sundae Station on bikes.

Crusa posted photos of the men on Facebook, and someone who had seen the men earlier that evening at another business reported to police.

The second suspect has not been arrested.
