Man just released from jail is charged with allegedly trying to steal vehicle to get out of BG

A man in Wood County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle was released on Thursday (March 20) only to be arrested later that day for allegedly trying to steal a vehicle in Bowling Green.

Chazz Cisneros, 37, with an address of Los Angeles, California, was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of criminal tools, and taken back to Wood County Jail.

Bowling Green Police received a call from a witness around 7:30 p.m., who reported seeing a man try to steal a vehicle that had been left running at a gas pump in the 1600 block of East Wooster Street. The vehicle, a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, moved forward from the pump and then stopped with the aid of a security feature.

The man got out of the vehicle and headed toward Interstate 75, according to the witness.

Police found a man matching the witness’ description on the East Wooster overpass at I-75.

The man, Cisneros, reportedly told police he had just been released from jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, and he needed transportation to get out of town.

A pair of wire strippers was reportedly found in the Jeep, and Cisneros’ backpack contained six screwdrivers, electrical tape, black pants and gloves, and a Chicago Cubs hat. None of those items were reportedly in his possession when he left Wood County Jail earlier in the day.

Cisneros also had no money when he was released from jail, so police returned the items to Meijer, where he allegedly had taken the items.
