Maria (Mary) A. Cano, born on July 13, 1963, passed away on May 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness. She is survived by siblings: Jose Dan Cano, Jr. (Judy Harden), Frank Cano, Ric Cano, Yolanda Cano, and Gloria Cano. Mary was especially close to her niece, Corrie Patton-Reyes, nephew, Michael Cano, and her great nephew, Cayleb Reyes, along with many other cherished nieces and nephews who will deeply feel her absence.
A proud graduate of Bowling Green High School’s Class of 1981, Mary dedicated 30 years of her life working at Barney’s. She was an extremely hardworking employee and took pride in her work. Mary also worked at Pizza Brothers and BGSU dining services. Mary was known to family and friends as a grill master. She often hosted family gatherings and took joy in sharing her culinary skills. She enjoyed watching cooking shows to learn new recipes and ideas and family were all too eager to be her taste testers. Her amazing heart and selflessness defined her character, as she would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Mary’s infectious sense of humor and love for life were evident to all who knew her. She was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes, bringing enthusiasm and spirit to every game day.
Mary was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she found strength and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jose Daniel, Sr. and Elisa (Pacheco) Cano, her brothers Albert, Tony, and David, and her nephew Daniel Thomas Patton, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on May 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Committal Service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
