Michael “Mike” Griswold, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on September 17, 2026.
Mike was remarkably intelligent, largely self-taught and an exceptionally talented electrical designer. Throughout his long career, he worked for AFCA, SSOE and Axis. He was especially proud of his work with Owens Corning. Mike valued the close relationships he formed with his coworkers and cherished the friendships he maintained from childhood throughout his adult life.
Mike was raised in Luckey, Ohio, by his beloved grandparents, Mary Sue and Ronald Webb. He was the son of Patricia and Chester Griswold. His siblings include his brothers, John and Bill, and his sisters, Cherie and Crystal. Mike was grateful to have connected with his brother John through DNA in recent years.
Mike helped raise two families and loved his stepchildren, Alexandria (Seth), Meagan (Aaron), Zackary (Bella) and Katie (Braden). He shared an especially close bond with Katie, whom he helped raise and supported through many important moments in her life.
One of Mike’s greatest joys was being “Papa” to Adalynn and Charlie. He also cared deeply for Josie, Hazel and James and was a meaningful presence in their lives. The memories they shared with Mike will always be treasured.
Mike loved to travel, experience new places and enjoyed good food. He also loved his dogs, Baxter and Daisy, who preceded him in death, and his feline companion, Chloe Bell, who remains behind to miss him.
Mike lived for many years with Crohn’s disease and endured more than most people ever knew. Through it all, he showed tremendous strength and resilience.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Peggy; his father, Chester Griswold; his stepchildren, Alexandria (Seth), Meagan (Aaron), Zackary (Bella) and Katie (Braden); his grandchildren, Josie, Adalynn, Hazel, James and Charlie; his siblings, John, Bill, Cherie and Crystal; his sisters-in-law, Suzanna (Matt) Brouillard and Cheryl (Jason) Pocino; his dear friend and former wife, Tracy Lind; and many other relatives, friends, coworkers and loved ones.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; his grandparents, Mary Sue and Ronald Webb; and his in-laws, Lauren and David Marriott and William Beard.
Family and friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2026, at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home at 4094 State Route 105 in Pemberville, with at Memorial Service at 11 a.m., following the service guests will be invited to a funeral luncheon.
