Michael William Leslie, 75, of Bowling Green, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, July 16, 2026. He was born on June 24, 1951, in Toledo to Paul and Evelyn (Goeckerman) Leslie, Luckey, OH.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Eastwood High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from BGSU in 1973. He began his professional career as an accountant for Union Carbide in Fostoria and later worked at Wood County Hospital for 33 years. He completed his career with the hospital, retiring as Vice President of Finance. During that time, he served on the board of the American Red Cross and especially enjoyed playing on the hospital softball team.
Mike loved sports, especially baseball. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. One of his favorite memories was the 1968 Tigers’ winning the World Series. He was active locally in youth baseball and softball, coaching both his children. He was an assistant coach for the Bowling Green High school softball team, and along with friend Dennis Smith, helped coach the Lady Luxors travel softball team of high school girls from various area high schools. A favorite tournament experience was competing against teams from the western U.S. in Las Vegas, NV.
In retirement, Mike helped his grandsons develop their baseball skills, coaching their teams at Carter Park. He was a supporter of Bowling Green baseball, both the youth program at Carter Park and the Bowling Green High School baseball teams. He was named Volunteer Coach of the year in 2021 at Carter Park. He influenced the lives of countless players over the years, and he and his family developed lifelong friendships from their baseball and softball experiences. He also gave his time assisting with his grandsons’ youth basketball and football programs.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Evelyn Leslie. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; children, Michael P., Columbus; Beth (Steve) Snyder, Bowling Green; and grandchildren, Mason Snyder, Bowen Snyder, and Brynn Snyder. He is also survived by a brother, Roger Leslie, Kent, OH; a sister, Nancy Higgins; and a niece, Shannon Higgins, of Boca Raton, FL.; and bonus grandson, Grant Gillispie. He is also survived by longtime friends Dennis Smith, Jon McDermott, and Tony Aspacher.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St., 43402. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, with Nick Gillispie officiating.
A celebration-of-life luncheon will follow at Carter Park, Bowling Green. Dress will be casual. In honor of Mike and his love of sports, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite sports apparel. Private burial will take place at Troy Township Cemetery in Luckey, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be given in Mike’s memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or to the Bowling Green High School Bobcat Baseball Program.
