On Sept. 19, Montessori School of Bowling Green hosted its 10th annual cross country invitational at the school. There were over 450 kindergarten through sixth grade runners who participated.
Students from eight school districts, including Lakota, Eastwood, Elmwood, Bowling Green, Otsego, Fostoria, Gibsonburg, Toledo, as well as students who are home-schooled ran. Many older students from the Bowling Green Middle School cross country team volunteered at the invitational. There were more than 1,000 spectators and runners at the event.
Megan Prybylski, an MSBG teacher and cross country coach, started the MSBG cross country team 13 years ago. She coordinated the MSBG Invitational because she is a strong advocate for fitness in children.
“Seeing all those children running at a young age is one of the best things for establishing a lifetime of healthy activity,” Prybylski said.
Due to the success of each year’s invitational, another one has already been scheduled for next year on Sept. 17, 2020.
