Nancy Ann Preston

Nancy Preston, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 4, 1943 near Pullman, Washington, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Marion and Marian (Hinchliff) Wise.

After graduating high school in 1961, Nancy earned her Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Washington State University. Soon after graduation, she accepted a teaching opportunity with the Department of Defense, which allowed her to combine her passion for education with a spirit of adventure. She taught overseas in the Philippines and in Aviano, Italy. It was during her time in Italy that a friend introduced her to the love of her life, Richard Preston. The two were married in Italy in 1972, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than five decades.

Nancy and Richard eventually returned to the United States and made their home in Bowling Green, building a life centered on family, community, and service. Nancy continued her teaching career at Weston Elementary, inspiring countless students until her retirement after 31 years.

Once retired Nancy still served the community, volunteering at The Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry and St. Aloysius Church. She loved country music and attended over two dozen concerts by her favorite performer Toby Keith with friends and family.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Richard Preston of Bowling Green, her sons Gregory Preston of Buffalo, New York, Paul (Amanda) Preston of Denver, Colorado, sister Mary Jane (Paul) Kreager of Bullhead, Arizona, and cherished granddaughter Brooklyn Preston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
