Nicholas Bernard Getzinger

Nicholas Bernard Getzinger, 83, of Weston, Ohio passed away October 14, 2021. He was born on February 1, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Clay High School and enlisted in the Navy. On August 14, 1959 on a Navy Base in North Carolina, he married Helen C. Skelley of Altoona Pennsylvania, whom he met through Helen’s cousin that he befriended while in the Navy. After returning home from the Navy they moved together into a home in Toledo, Ohio.
Nick was a trucker, but his passion was in nature. He loved gardening, beekeeping as well as ceramics. He and Helen eventually moved to Grand Rapids Ohio, where he had time to pursue his passion in gardening. Eventually they moved to Georgia, where gardening and ceramics were his enjoyment. Later they returned to Ohio and in his final years, kept on with gardening, ceramics and then beekeeping. He always kept busy tinkering with just about anything and trying new businesses.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nick was survived by his wife Helen by only 12 hours; children: Kathleen (Floyd) Cole; Pamulla (William) Cole; Laurie Tatum; Nicholas (Tracy) Getzinger, Jr.; Richard (Amanda) Getzinger ; Walter (Michelle) Getzinger; and Albert Getzinger; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; brother; Walter “Jim” (Cindy) Getzinger. Nick was preceded in death by his parents Walter Bernard and Frances E. (Wooley) Getzinger and siblings: Daniel Getzinger, Ernest Getzinger, Betty Brian.

A Service will be set at a later date in November.
