North Baltimore Community Garden Project launches ‘Winter Grow to Go Program’

The North Baltimore Community Garden Project has announced the official launch of its Winter Grow to Go Program, an initiative designed to empower community members to enhance their gardening skills during the winter months.

This program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Briar Hill Health Campus, the North Baltimore Garden Club, the North Baltimore Public Library, the Ohio State University Extension Office – Wood County, and the Wood County Health Department.

The Winter Grow to Go Program provides registered participants with a free herb-growing kit, complete with everything needed to successfully grow three different herbs.

Each herb kit includes detailed instructions for successful herb cultivation and care. Additionally, registered participants will receive information about upcoming workshops and events hosted by the NB Garden Club and the OSU Extension Office.

“The Winter Grow to Go Program is more than just a small gardening project; it’s about giving community members a chance to learn valuable skills and to become empowered to grow their own food,” said Katie Denison, nutrition director at Wood County Health Department.

Participants who have registered to participate in the program may pick up herb kits at the North Baltimore Public Library during one of two designated pickup times:

  • Friday, Jan. 31, from 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 1, from 8 to 10 a.m.

Additionally, the Wood County Health Department’s Mobile Health Center will be present and offering walk-in health screenings. For more information about the program or herb kit pick up, visit the North Baltimore Community Garden Project Facebook Page.

The North Baltimore Community Garden Project is dedicated to fostering community engagement, promoting sustainable gardening practices, and providing educational opportunities.
