From NORTH BALTIMORE PUBLIC LIBRARY
With July being a month filled with vacations and Fourth of July celebrations, the North Baltimore Public Library, North Baltimore Historical Society, and the Virginia Theater have combined their View & Chew and Ohio Goes to the Movies series into one event. The community is invited to join them on Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m. for a free showing of “Gibsonburg” at the Virginia Theater, 119 N. Main St., North Baltimore.
Based on the true story of the Gibsonburg High School baseball team, the film follows the school’s 2005 season. After finishing the regular season with a 6-17 record, the underdog Golden Bears defied the odds by winning eight consecutive tournament games to become the first high school baseball team in the nation to capture a state championship with a losing record.
The theater doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and concessions will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public.
