Bowling Green State University Art Galleries invites artists 16 and older to submit their works for display in the 17th annual Northwest Ohio (NOW OH) community art show, which takes place July 23 to Aug. 4 at the BGSU Fine Arts Center.

From June 3 to July 5, artists from Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams and Wood counties may submit one original entry completed within the last two years for consideration on the BGSU School of Art website. Featured artists can win cash prizes, gift certificates and awards, including Best of Show, Young Artist and People’s Choice.

This year’s NOW OH art show will be judged by David Ross, a community artist turned advocate for youth and creativity. An alumnus of the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo’s Young Artists at Work program, Ross connects visual art and social issues with a focus on youth against crime and art in relation to health. He also works with the city of Toledo’s Youth Commission to build creative engagement opportunities for young people and is the founder of the charity Dunkin 4 Donations.

Selected artwork will be displayed in the BGSU Fine Arts Center beginning with an opening reception at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, featuring a gallery talk by Ross.

The 2024 NOW OH art show is free and open to the public with gallery hours from 11 a.m.to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.
