One person killed, two injured in crash at intersection of Ohio 25 and Mermill Road

One person was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash today (Monday) around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio 25 and Mermill Road, south of Bowling Green, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

A Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Cassy Shank, 50, of Risingsun, was eastbound on Mermill Road and reportedly failed to yield to a northbound GMC pickup driven by Michael Spangenberg, 57, of North Baltimore.

Shank died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

An 11-year-old girl, who was a passenger in Shank’s car, was flown by Promedica Air Ambulance to Toledo Hospital for severe, but non-life threatening injuries.

Spangenberg was transported to Wood County Hospital with minor injuries.

Assisting agencies on the scene were Mid-County 120 EMS, Weston EMS and Central Joint Fire Department. 

The crash is under investigation.
