Oregon man arrested after allegedly elbowing BGPD officer in mouth, and spitting in another’s face

A man who reportedly refused to leave a bar in the 200 block of North Main Street on Sunday (2/18) was arrested after he allegedly elbowed one police officer in the mouth and spit in the face of another officer.

Anthony Phillips, 21, Oregon, was arrested for assault of a police officer, disorderly conduct with persistence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and harassment by an inmate

When Bowling Green Police officers arrived at the bar, employees said Phillips had been trying to start a fight and was refusing to leave the business. Phillips reportedly refused to identify himself or talk with officers. When officers told Phillips they would be detaining him, he reportedly began struggling, shoved an officer, elbowed an officer in the mouth, and spit in the face of another.

Once inside the backseat of the cruiser, Phillips reportedly kept hitting his head on the car interior, so a safety helmet was secured on his head.

Upon arrival at Wood County Jail, Phillips reportedly became aggressive with deputies, leading to another charge filed against him.
