I would like to voice my concerns about proposed legislation in the Ohio Legislature. Our State representative Theresa Gavarone R-Bowling Green, has among other things proposed removing all the outdoor ballot boxes in Ohio. In Wood County, we have ONE outdoor box which is located at the county courthouse. The box is located in a well lit and monitored site just outside the main entrance.
IMO, there is NO problem with the method used here to get the Absentee ballot back to the Board of Elections.
Some info that I gleaned from the B of E today, that I would like to share with readers: Our last election in November 2024, registered Wood county voters asked for a little over 11,000 absentee ballots. Of those, 2,238 were put in the outdoor ballot box. 745 took their ballot into the courthouse, went through security and then turned them in at the counter of the B of E . Most ( 7,276 ) chose to put a couple of stamps on them and mail in. I am sure many of them wondered, “will the ballot get lost in the mail.”
Again it is my opinion, here in Wood County we have NO problem !
