The Village of Pemberville has been informed by First Energy that there will be a complete shutdown of electricity to the village on Monday, Dec. 16.
This will affect anyone who pays a utility bill to the village.
This will be a complete shutdown of the power to the entire village, scheduled to be between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in order to power up the newly restored north substation on College Avenue.
According to Mayor Carol Bailey, since the village buys its electricity from First Energy, the village is at First Energy’s mercy regarding the timing of this shut-off. It is suggested that customers prepare for this outage in advance by taking basic preventative measures, such as charging your phones, making arrangements if you have medical needs that require electricity, or refraining from doing anything that an interruption of power could ruin.
If you have your telephone on VOIC, know that you will not have phone service. (cell phones should be fine). The bank will not be able to process any transactions, and the stores and restaurants will most likely not be open for business.
If you have a neighbor or friend that you typically look after, you may want to consider reaching out in advance of this scheduled shutdown, Bailey said.
If you have any questions, reach out to the village office at 419-287-3832 or call Bailey directly at 419-419-9645.
