Downtown Pemberville is set to host King Midget Cars on Thursday, Aug. 12, from approximately 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
The cars will arrive on Ohio 105, from the west, and will be parked behind the business district along the banks of the Portage River.
Guests are invited to view this collection of 40 to 50 cars, while their owners visit the village’s historical sites.
The King Midget was a micro-car produced between 1946 and 1970 by the Midget Motors Corporation. Although the company started out by offering a kit to build the car, they soon added completely assembled cars and later only offered completed cars.
Company founders Claud Dry and Dale Orcutt first sold the King Midgets as part of their Midget Motors Supply operations in Athens, Ohio. By 1948, they began to use the name Midget Motors Manufacturing Co. In about 1956, Dry and Orcutt changed the name of their company to Midget Motors Corporation.
